On  my vacation to Sri Lanka I went to the Temple of the Tooth. Another way to say Temple of the Tooth is Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Whatever you call it,  The Temple of the Tooth or Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, it is a  Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka.  The Temple of the Tooth is located in the royal palace complex which holds the relic of the tooth of Buddha. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings. After the parinirvana of Gautama Buddha, the tooth relic was preserved in Kalinga and smuggled to the island by Princess Hemamali and her husband, Prince Dantha on the instructions of her father King Guhasiva. Princess Hemamali hid the tooth relic in her hair and came to Sri Lanka. In this the Sacred Tooth Relic is covered by a golden roof.
