Sigiriya is a large stone which holds the floor plans of King Kashyapa’s royal palace. This palace isn’t like one of the ones that we see today. It wasn’t anything like ones we see in story books. No, This was a huge but complex one of a kind palace. At first I wondered why King Kashyapa built his palace on top a huge 180m tall granite rock. then I found out that he built his Fortress because then it was almost impossibly for the enemy to get in to the place.

Some questions that I had was that how did they get to the top before the stairs were there. Then I found out that there is a staircase carved in the side of the rock, and that now its off limets because the staircase was build a long time ago and like the place it is starting the crumble away. Some people belived that the king had a elevator somewhere so that he didn’t have to climb up the rock like everyone else. To tell you the truth I don’t really know what happened to it. Maybe there was a rock slide and the elevator got crushed.
